Description
Manager Civil Project Officer
Job Summary
The Manager Civil Project Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of high-quality projects that meet the organization’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management
- Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction teams, to ensure effective project execution
- Identify and mitigate project risks, and develop contingency plans to minimize potential impacts
Project Monitoring and Control
- Track project progress, identify and address deviations from plans, and take corrective actions as needed
- Conduct regular project meetings, and prepare and distribute meeting minutes and progress reports
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including project sponsors, clients, and government agencies
- Communicate project updates, progress, and issues to stakeholders, and ensure their expectations are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure long-term partnerships
Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of project officers, engineers, and technicians
- Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation and creativity
Quality and Safety
- Ensure projects are delivered to the required quality standards, and that quality control processes are in place
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all project personnel
Budgeting and Cost Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, and ensure effective cost control measures are in place
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings and value engineering
Requirements
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or civil engineering (e.g., PE, CE)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil project management, with at least 2 years in a management role
- Proven track record of delivering complex civil projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Skills
- Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in project management software, including scheduling and budgeting tools
